The backpacks and classes of Camas High School (CHS) students have been infiltrated with colorful squishies known as NeeDohs.

Teachers and students alike have noticed the prevalence of these squishies in their classrooms, specifically within senior classrooms.
“There are more of them [than I have seen before] since I’d never seen them before,” CHS history teacher Kristi Bridges said. “It seems like kids in my senior classes [have them] more than my sophomore classes.”
“Basically, everyone has [a NeeDoh],” CHS senior Sydney Fearn said. “Especially seniors, they’re [basically] all over the place.”
Fortunately, the presence of these squishies seems to keep students focused in their classes instead of taking away their attention while teachers are lecturing.
“It’s [primarily] the sharp people that don’t seem like they’re normally checked out [with NeeDohs],” Bridges said. “I think [they are] something used when you need to stay focused.”
“I think it’s a good stress relief fidget toy, and honestly, it helps me focus in class more to have something to play with.” CHS senior Lena Ruddy said.
These squishies come in all shapes and sizes, and NeeDohs are not the only squishy students have with them at school.
“One has this one that’s like a cube of butter, and I really always want to touch the cube of butter, but I don’t,” Bridges said.

Fearn talked about how she has primarily seen the square NeeDohs, known as Nice Cubes, in her classes, but that she has also seen a ton of sparkly ones.
With Needohs becoming so popular, there is a high demand for them, making it difficult for people to obtain them.
“I think pretty much all stores have them, but they sell out so fast. Like when I got mine, I was lucky because they were just restocking the shelves with them, so that’s why I was able to get one, but I feel like it’s mostly hard,” Ruddy said.
“It’s obviously a trend now. It is all over social media, and people like to go with the trend.”
Some people have noticed that the fact that stores have taken notice of this trend has made it easier to find them.
“They are in most stores, I think, [and these stores] have a bunch of displays out now because they’re so popular,” Fearn said.
Besides stress relief, it seems that NeeDohs have become a significant phenomenon for seniors because they remind them of toys from their childhood, helping them cope with the end of high school.
“I used to play with squishies all the time when I was younger, and this is kind of similar, so I guess we’re just going back to, like, those old things from our childhood,” Ruddy said.
No matter the reason, many students at CHS have and want these squishies.
“I don’t have one, but I want one,” Fearn said.
