It has now become an annual tradition for Camas High School’s (CHS) Associated Student Body (ASB) to organize a Random Acts of Kindness week and Multi-Cultural week. For the 2025-2026 school year, Random Acts of Kindness week took place between March 2 to March 6 and ASB students went above and beyond to make it a heartfelt week for all CHS students.

“We had different things going on every day with the idea that we were trying to create the butterfly effect of kindness,” Valerie Parbon, CHS ASB supervisor, said. “That was the overall goal. Then everybody gets reached in different ways.”
Throughout Kindness week, ASB organized different activities such as slime-making, a Taco Bell surprise, a magic show, positive notes in hallways and on cars, and a petting zoo during lunch. Each member of ASB had their own important role in putting this together.
“I coordinate a lot of the things going on. I also delegate,” Emily Parker, CHS ASB president, said. “For example, we made different committees and stuff. So, in my committee, we were in charge of the magic show, and then also, the notes around the school and the notes around the cars.”
“For Kindness week, we were the Senior Girls Slayer Fire Dragon [committee] and we scheduled the Lucky Luke Magic Show together,” Elie Nava, CHS Senior sergeant at arms, said. “We also did the notes on the cars.”
Overall, Random Acts of Kindness week turned out to be a success and was able to put smiles on the faces of CHS students.
“People can be more intentional in a large variety of ways, Parbon said. “Whether it be your words or your actions, or even just a smile.”
Coming up, CHS ASB is organizing a Multi-Cultural week taking place from March 23 to March 27 during the 2025-2026 school year. Multi-Cultural week has become a tradition to celebrate the diversity of the school population.
“Essentially, each day is gonna represent a different part of the world,” Parker said. “So we’re doing South America, Africa, East Asia, and West Asia. And then we also have Europe being represented as well.”

These cultures will be represented by various different cultural elements organized by ASB as well as student or family volunteers that want to share their unique culture.
“For example, I’m actually helping out my mom this year doing Vietnamese culture,” Parker said.
“We try to incorporate music and somehow, we’re gonna try to incorporate dance. We definitely will have some food sampling,” Parbon said. “We’re gonna definitely have some decorating happening. Then just some like factual things. We’re gonna share a traditional dress.”
Much like Random Acts of Kindness Week, ASB has a huge role in putting this together.
“I mainly oversee what’s going on, as well as communicating,” Parker said. “We work with outside groups as well. So parents and people that really feel like they want to have their culture represented.”
“I help set up lunchtime games for that,” Nava said. “So, I just kind of came up with some cultural games from different continents.”
ASB has high hopes that Multi-Cultural week will be a success and spread awareness about the different cultures throughout CHS.
“We are getting a lot more diverse. So it’s kind of fun to be able to let people celebrate their culture, Parbon said. “We have 16 different languages spoken here, and then we have 20 plus known cultures here at Camas.”
ASB has once again put in the work to make CHS a kind and welcoming place for all students.
