In this holiday season, students should take a moment to think about what they are doing for others around the school and community. With all the negativity around the nation, students should choose another way. There are many easy ways to bring joy and happiness to those who surround students this holiday season. One of these ways is through Random Acts of Kindness (RAoK) or little things that student can do throughout their day to put a smile on someone’s face. This December spread a little kindness to others. Try one of these 31 RAoK each day in December and in Ellen DeGeneres’ words, “Be kind to one another.”
- Smile to people as you walk by them.
- Say hello to a new person.
- Give a sincere compliment.
- Open the door for a friend.
- Meet somebody new.
- Say thank you to someone who helped you.
- Help somebody struggling in class.
- Throw away trash from the hallways.
- Leave nice notes for people to find.
- Help someone clean up at lunch.
- Sit by someone who is alone.
- Bring food for stuff the bus.
- Donate money to a charity.
- Rake leaves or shovel snow.
- Donate food to homeless people in your community.
- Leave a big tip when you eat out.
- Donate blankets to a hospital.
- Pick up litter in a local park.
- Invite someone over for dinner.
- Bring treats to a neighbor.
- Say good morning to teachers and bus drivers.
- Offer to babysit for free.
- Clean dry erase boards in classrooms.
- Help to clean desks in classrooms.
- Leave sidewalk chalk notes on the sidewalks.
- Hold an umbrella for someone walking in the rain.
- Leave nice notes on cars in the parking lot.
- Help stack chairs in the cafeteria.
- Pass out happy stickers to people in the hallways.
- Write a thank you note to staff.
- Give someone a high-five in the hallway.
Help make this a December to remember while making a difference in someone else’s life.
