Staff members of The Camasonian asked students: “Why is this election important to you?”
“This country is in need of a change. We need someone who has not been tried for crime because that sends the wrong message to the next generation.” – Senior
“The sense of representation needs to be increased among young people. We need to not embarrass our country as a result of our president. This country could divert into a bad direction if the wrong candidate is chosen.” -Senior
“This election is important for minorities–it will be highly impactful on their lives no matter which candidate is chosen.” -Junior
“It impacts my future and the future of so many other kids, teens, and young adults in our country. It will also impact our kids and the way our country it going, and the future of the country.” – Freshman
“This election is really crazy because there are two people that a lot of Americans have really strong opinions about, and you have the first women president possibly and another man running against. They are also both opinionated and they’re just not like any presidents we’ve had before, they’re not soft spoken, and they have their ideas that are totally opposite each other. So I just think it fun that more people are into it.”
“To me this election is crucial, even though I can’t vote. Whoever is put in office will be there when I’m in college, and will determine how my young adult life really starts out.”
“To be completely honest, this is probably the most important election of our generation. This will determine the outcome of most of the other elections in our future especially since his will be going on while we are going through college and creating lives for ourselves.”
“This election is big. This election will determine our future and possibly our kids future whoever is chosen and whatever choices they make will affect our lives tremendously for a long time.”
“The election matters to me because it determines the next four years of my life, what laws will be enforced, if the minimum wage rises when I get a job, and all of the other posing political questions. Not to mention the fact that a woman could be my next president, meaning a huge gain for social reform for feminism, which I am a huge advocate of. So the election pretty much sums up to be a huge part of my daily life as a resident of the United States.” – Freshman
“To me, it’s an opportunity to try to understand the system of electing a president and educating myself on our country’s current issues. Although this is not a regular election, I think it is important to start to educate myself now so I can be prepared in four years for the next one when I get the chance to vote as a U.S.A. citizen.” – Sophomore

“I’d say that in the event that Trump or Hillary is elected somehow would make me uneasy to see that one of these two are going to become president. Is she or he great leaders? I don’t know. But I have doubts on both sides, perhaps one more than another, but it makes me uncertain whether or not the U.S. will be lead to great things well and safe.” – Sophomore
“It’s kinda stressed me out. The world we’re creating scares me. I want a president that is going to help make it better and keep us all safe. I’ll be glad when it’s over because I don’t really know what to believe. Words can get twisted really easily and makes it harder to make an informed decision when voting too.” – Sophomore
“This country is in need of a change. We need someone who has not been tried for a crime, and I certainly don’t want to be led by a criminal.” – Junior
“The sense of representation needs to be increased in the United States. We need to not embarrass our country as a result of our president. This election is going to be detrimental either way.” – Junior
“This election matters to me because it is the first one I can actively participate in and it is important to me to be a productive member of society.” – Senior
“This election is important for minorities–it will be highly impactful on their lives no matter which president is elected.” – Junior
“It matters to me because it marks the end of a decent presidency and the start of our nation’s downfall.” – Senior
