The Camas High School drama department decided to do Shakespeare’s Macbeth as the fall play this year. Though, instead of performing it the normal way, they decided to perform it in a black box setup. This last weekend was opening weekend, which went extremely well. So far audiences have been absolutely loving the show and have been commenting on wanting to come back and see it again.
Junior Ava Wright explained, “It was a great show and everybody should see it because the drama and tech kids put a lot into it and lost a lot of school work time and sleep because they were working so hard on the play,” Wright stated, “They did well choreographing all of the dance scenes and with blocking in a way that involves every audience member on all 4 sides of the room.”
Senior Erin O’Day said something extremely similar. “Acting was so good!” She exclaimed. Overall, she claimed she loved the performance, and she was blown away by the final product. She got to see a little bit of the before since she was in the drama class this year. O’Day explained, “Favorite scene was the final scene with Macduff and the spirits following him or Lady Macbeth’s sleepwalking scene.” She concluded, “The drama department never fails to give a good show with so many talented actors.” O’Day seemed to love the play, but did she love it enough to go back and see it again? She answered, “Yes I would, but I’m letting people take the seat so others can experience it.”
The first few showings ended up being a tremendous success, and there’s no doubt that this will continue to amaze audiences with their phenomenal performance skills. Come to see Macbeth, showings are November 15, 16 and 17 at 7 p.m. and November 17 at 2 p.m.
