Winter is coming, which means a lot of rain for lower-lying cities, but Mt. Hood will be pummeled with fresh snow. Make sure you are getting ready for being one of the thousands of people shredding the slopes every day this winter season. There are many quality shops in the area or portland that are very reputable. Here are a few:
- Daddies Board Shop (Snowboards): https://www.daddiesboardshop.com Location: about 5 minutes away from Ikea on Janson Beach
- Hillcrest Ski and Sports: http://www.hillcrestsports.com/ Location: Sandy, Oregon.
The most popular location would have to be Timberline Lodge for the ski season. Other ski attractions include Mt. Hood Meadows and Mt. Hood Ski Bowl. Timberline is a great place for the whole family to ski and snowboard. There are easier, beginner runs that are perfect for learning, and for experienced riders, the black diamond runs offer up quite a challenge. Starting on Nov 10th, Timberline will be open all 7 days a week. Lift opening is still dependent on weather. Here is some information about the facility:

- – 5 high-speed quads
- – 1 triple
- – 1 double
