    New to CHS: Sandi Taylor

One of many new teachers at CHS this year is Speech-Language Pathologist Mrs.Taylor. This year is her first year teaching at Camas High School.

She went to the University of Puget Sound for her undergraduate degree and went to University of Washington for her masters; she previously taught in the Evergreen School District.

She shared what she likes so far about CHS, saying, “It is a great place to work and the students are very positive.” She also shares how much she loves the town of Camas. “I have lived in Camas since 2000, and I love the small-town feel, and I am excited to work in the town where I live.” Also, she likes that every day is full of memories and kids with stories to tell.

While she is now happily helping kids with their speech, she explained, “I left high school thinking I wanted to go to college to be a marine biologist.” She said she lost her passion for being a marine biologist when her professor told her if she did not like studying organisms it might not be the class for her. Instead, she took a course on language acquisition for children, learned about speech and what pathologists do and has been a speech-language pathologist since 1992.

She previously was a speech-language pathologist at Mountain View High School; however, before those days, when Camas originally opened, she worked at the Papermaker

Preschool. She is both excited and proud to be a Papermaker once again.

While the 2017-2018 year is getting underway, Taylor hopes to make many more memories at CHS. Say ‘hello’ to Mrs. Taylor if you see her around and help the Camasonian welcome her to the campus.
