Camas’s DECA is on a roll this year, first claiming many top spots at their International Competition in California last month, and now working to promote community service and creating a fun event for students to participate in this spring!
On May 20th, from 11AM to 1PM, DECA is hosting a volleyball tournament, all in the name of saving the bees! The tournament is open to all students wishing to compete; from professional volleyballers to beginners, everyone is welcome to come and play for a good cause!
The event, dubbed “Bump for the Bees”, will be hosted in Camas High School’s Main Gym, and teams must be comprised of at least six players. Students wishing to join can sign up at both lunches, starting this Friday! There is a $5 fee per player, and all proceeds will be donated to the Honeybee Conservancy.
As of late, there has been a global concern about the decline of bees, due to environmental factors and various pesticides and chemicals used on plants for growth and development. Bees are crucial to our food supply as well as the beautification of our world, keeping these pollinators around is pertinent.
The Honeybee Conservancy is a nonprofit that works to advocate for these bees and their habitats, by promoting the creation of bee communities, raise awareness of this issue, and by supporting science and advancing environmental research.
Come support DECA, and the bees, by playing some volleyball!
