
Gloria Steinem is an American feminist, journalist, and social activist who eventually became nationally recognized in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s as a leader and spokeswoman for the feminist movement. As a columnist for New York Magazine and co-founder of Ms. Magazine Steinem published an article titled “After Black Power, Women’s Liberation” which ultimately led to her fame and success as a feminist leader.

In 2005, Steinem co-founded the Women’s Media Center along with Jane Fonda and Robin Morgan. The Women’s Media Center was an organization that works to help make women visible and powerful in the media. Steinem now travels internationally as a lecturer and organizer and a media spokeswoman on issues of equality for everyone.
