This year in the Camas High School (CHS) Theater Department, students and directors alike are proud to announce the production of “Monstrous Regiment,” a novel by Terry Pratchett. It features a wide variety of characters such as a troll, a vampire and a werewolf. The play focuses primarily on action and comedy.
This story is about the wild adventure of Polly Perks, a young girl who disguises herself as a man and enlists in the Borogravian army to find her lost brother, Paul.
However, Polly soon finds that she is not the only one in disguise. Along the way, she discovers that many of her fellow soldiers are women disguised as men, just like her.
Through a wild whirlwind of twists and turns, Polly and the crew risk their lives to save their friends and family, and ultimately, to find a place they can each call home.
Discovery High School Sophomore Madeline McBride plays the lead role of Polly Perks. McBride commented on her favorite part of the rehearsal process.
“Getting to be with other people who enjoy the same things that I do, and getting to work with them through challenges,” McBride said.
The cast and crew members of “Monstrous Regiment” are beyond excited to perform this show, and have been working their hardest to make this show the absolute best it can be.
“We’re getting to that point where you have so much energy that you start implementing your own ideas and then they go well,” CHS Senior Leo Wilson, who plays the role of Igor, said.
“This book had been made into a play… I read it and I instantly knew we had to do it,” Sean Kelly, the director of the CHS Theater Department said. “We had all the right people for it. It’s such a great show, it’s a good size cast, it’s topical, and it’s hilarious.”
Tickets for “Monstrous Regiment” are on sale now and can be purchased at Gofan.com or at the in-person ticket window before the production.
