Daily Paper, located on North East Everett St., is a hit with Camas High School (CHS) students. It is located less than 5 minutes from CHS. The location of Daily Paper is very relevant to the number of hikers, commuters, and teachers in an area where not much is located within walking distance.
Daily Paper is owned and run by CHS graduate Benjamin Mikhalets. He started in 2016 by co-running a bakery with his older brother, Slav Mikhalets, on Thurston Way, across from the Vancouver Mall. The brothers sell an array of European desserts connecting to their Ukrainian roots.
The Mikhalets are well known around the Camas area, attending the Camas Farmer Market yearly and maintaining two businesses.
“It’s been really good and I’m enjoying it,” a worker said when asked about her experience there, “My favorite part of the job is who I work for and who I work with. They’re all extremely amazing, everyone is really kind, and it’s a great time working with my co-workers, and the people that own this coffee shop are known by all as amazing people”.
One of Daily Paper’s more popular drinks is their Red Bull-infused drinks, called “Power Up”s. That worker recommended “Neptune” as their favorite “Power Up”, which is flavored with blue raspberry and lime syrup.
“I got one of their energy drinks and it was pretty good, kind of like the ones at Dutch Bros,” CHS junior Eden Swanson said.
On the coffee side of their menu, their most popular drink is their mochas.
“The first drink I had was a mocha and I liked their coffee a lot,” CHS senior Kaualani Kanekoa said, “but it’s a bit expensive, especially the pastry stuff”.
“I think the prices are fair since they are about the same size as other places,” Swanson said, “and the service was good but kind of slow only because there were so many people”
To keep customers coming back, they have decided to do punch cards as a reward for being a returning consumer.
“The coffee shop has a punch card which I think is easier to get than Dutch bros which is like 200 points,” Kanekoa said, “It probably took like three or four months to get a free drink from Dutch bros and it’s only 10 drinks to get a free drink at Daily Paper.”
“The shop itself was really cute and the people working there were so nice,” Kanekoa said.
Daily Paper already has a high rating, drawing more locals who claim it is a new competitor to the kings of the quick service beverage industry.
