Sweet stores in downtown Camas provide sweet treats for tourists and residents alike. With a wide variety of chocolates, gummies and so much more, it is hard to pass through Camas without stopping to feed a sweet tooth.
Sweet Intention and Truly Scrumptious are both established in downtown Camas, complementing each other by working together to form a community of sweets shop enjoyers. Both shops join forces to sell a wide variety of candy and other goods by deciding who sells what, so that nothing overlaps.
When walking into Sweet Intention, customers are met with large glass displays of chocolates and other sweets. Guests will also walk by displays of gifts including bath products, jewelry, candles and more. Owner of Sweet Intention Lisa Pogue, makes sure to include local artists and their impressive pieces in her shop and makes it a point to welcome anyone who walks in, local or tourist.
Sweet Intention provides a large display of chocolates and fudges. “If I were to count it would be quite a few because we sell three different types of fudges- we sell rocky road, almond-rocka, 10 different types of cream and more,” Pogue said. Pogue does not limit her selection to just chocolates, she sells all types of caramels, chocolate covered gummy bears and more specific desserts like raspberry sticks. Sweet Intention sells gifts as well. Customers can order custom gifts such as custom words or phrases printed on items like cutting boards.
“They have a sweet and quirky design,” Camas High School (CHS) junior Maxlynn Troung said. “It’s really well decorated and when you walk in, it’s like candyland. They have a very diverse stock and the chocolates are amazing.”
Truly Scrumptious works hard to provide Camas with decorated sweets with a smaller sized stock. The tiny sweets shop located across from Sweet Intention is sadly closing soon due to the owners retirement but on their way out they chose to help out with a senior project.
Kimberly Koch, owner of Truly Scrumptious, worked with Nadia Martin, senior at Camas High School to complete her senior project which consisted of selling candy flower bouquets for ten dollars each, giving all profits to Camas Community Education program at Jack, Will and Rob Center.
“I’ve only ever been to one candy store downtown Camas and that was Truly Scrumptious, ” Camas High School junior Maya Dietrich said. “I remember getting those chocolate covered marshmallows and they were so cute and convenient to give out as gifts for friends and family.”
Ideally, Sweet Intention will stand the test of time and remain appreciated by the Camas Community. Evidently, Camas will always have sweet spots that bring sugar to the Camas streets.
