The 2023 fall high school sports season is over, and Camas High School (CHS) excelled in almost every sport. The school won seven league championships this year, and many varsity teams are still fighting in the state tournament.
The CHS Boys Varsity Cross Country team won the league championship and placed fifth in bi-districts, earning a place in the state race. The team ran on Nov. 4 and placed 15th. The Varsity Girls Cross Country team did very similarly, winning the league championship and placing fourth in bi-districts. They competed in the state race and finished 10th as a team.
The CHS Varsity Football team had an outstanding season this year. They ended the season with a record of 9-2, winning every league game and becoming the GSHL 4A league champions. They lost in the first round of the state tournament, where they were ranked No. 3.
CHS Boys Tennis has also been doing well this season. The varsity team won both league and bi-districts. They have also done very well individually. Thomas James and Aiden Brasier got first place in bi-districts for doubles. The tennis team will play in their state tournament in the Spring.
The CHS Girls Varsity Soccer team just finished their season after losing in the first round of the state tournament. They ended the season ranked 12th in the state. The team played great this season and won the league with an overall record of 11-5-4.
“It’s been great so far, and I think the team is always looking to get better and better,” senior Savannah Kvistad said. “I think we’ve done well.”
The CHS Girls Varsity Swim team has been competing very well this season. They have won the league championship, beating all the local teams. The team has also won bi-districts and will compete in the state tournament.
The CHS Girls Varsity Volleyball team is the undefeated league champion. They have a current overall record of 16-0. According to MaxPrep.com, the team is currently ranked fourth in the state. They will play in their state tournament on Nov. 17 and Nov. 18.
“Our postseason goal is winning state and getting a ring!” senior Addison Harris said.
“Postseason is going to be big for us. I can’t wait to see how this season ends!” senior Mia Thorburn said.
