Every year as we close in on Halloween, we are certain of one thing, and that is that the regular season of fall sports are winding down and it is time for PLAYOFFS!!! Our Camas High School varsity sports will be riding the momentum of the regular season into the playoffs, playing for the prestigious state championship trophy.

Varsity Football: Our Varsity football team had a rough start losing 3 straight games to open the season, but as of recent, they have been on a tear winning 3 straight by a combined score of 143-43. “‘We just started to click,” Senior Konner Limnel said, “It especially helps down the road when you have a tough schedule. I think it prepares us for the long run.”  The football team opens league play 10/14 @ Kiggins Bowl vs Skyview. This game is always close and the expectations for this year are no different. After Skyview, the football team will have 2 straight home games against Union (10/21) and Battle Ground (10/28: Homecoming/Senior Night) to close out the regular season. After that it is playoff time, where they will be in search of the programs 3rd state title. Current record: 3-3.

Girls Soccer: The defending state champs did not start the season off on the best foot, losing to a very good Jesuit team 2-0. Through the next 4 matches they went 2-0-2 tying with Olympia and Eastlake.  But just like the football team, they quickly turned it around winning the next 8 matches outsourcing their opponents 21-2. “We have started to play more as a team since the Jesuit loss,” Junior Ella Tennant said, “We are starting to play like last year’s team, which is a very good sign.” The Girls Soccer team has 3 games left in the regular season: 10/20-Home against Skyview, 10/24-Away @Union, 10/26-Home against Battle Ground (Senior Night). According to maxpreps.com, our Girls Soccer team is projected to be a 3 seed heading into playoffs, which would mean home field advantage up until as late as the quarterfinals. Current record: 10-1-2.

Girls Volleyball: The reigning GSHL 4A conference champions started the season off right with 3 straight wins before eventually losing to a tough Oregon City team at Home. It was a minor setback for the team, but since the loss, the Girls Volleyball team has won 6 straight games 18 sets to 1. “The loss made us so much better,” Junior Sammy Preston said, “Although I don’t think we are as good as we were last year yet, I still think we can contend for a state championship.” The Girls Volleyball team : 10/18-Home vs Kelso, 10/20-Home vs Mt. View, 10/25-Away @Heritage, 10/27-Home vs Skyview, 11/1-Away @Union, 11/3-Home vs Battle Ground (Senior Night). According to maxpreps.com, our Girls Volleyball team has a projected 4 seed, meaning just like our Girls Soccer team, would have home games as late as the round of 16. Current record: 9-1.
