You may have trouble finding a new book or series that is in your interest. Here are three different books recommended by students in the Camas School District.

The first is Bartimaeus; the Amulet of Samarkand, recommended by Zara Wilson, a seventh-grader at Liberty Middle School.

“It takes place in Britain in a reality where magicians control the governments by summoning demons,” said Wilson.

The story follows a demon named Bartimaeus and the young magician apprentice called Nathaniel who summoned him. They struggle to work together as they delve into the dark secrets behind an unknown theft.

“I think Camas students should read it because it’s a fun, unexpectedly adventurous book that combines action and fantasy with humor,” said Wilson.

The second is The Song of Achilles, recommended by Kira Navidi, a Freshman at CHS.

“It’s about Achilles’ life and Patrocluse’s life,” said Navidi.

The story is an adaptation of Homer’s Iliad, following the relationship between Achilles and Patroclus as they struggle to stay together through attempts from Achilles’ mother to pull them apart and terrible prophecies.

“The build-up is kind of slow but the end is worth it,” said Navidi.

The third is Divergent, recommended by Rachel Huston, a freshman at CHS.

“I liked that it is very creative and relatable in a way,” said Huston.

Divergent follows a girl named Tris who must choose between herself and her family and deal with the path that comes from that decision

“I would recommend this book because it is really good and once you start reading it’s hard to stop,” said Huston.
