As the pandemic has progressed, many Camas High School students have found themselves consuming more media than usual. Being confined to their house, and classes being online, has provided the perfect excuse for binging and discovering new movies and TV shows.
CHS student Lily Walsh said, “I like WandaVision because I watch it with my family, and since the whole MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) is pretty complex it gives us a lot to talk about, so we actually get to connect over the theories and everything. I also like it because Wanda Maximoff has my whole heart. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s interested in Marvel movies.”
CHS student Neha Ravi said, “My favorite show is Criminal Minds because each show takes on an interesting case, which I enjoy because I love anything true crime-related. There are also 15 seasons of the show which has kept me really busy throughout quarantine!”
CHS student Natalie Ge said, “My Favorite show during quarantine would have to be Avatar: The Last Airbender. It was a consistent show with loveable characters and a simple, yet enjoyable plot. I watched ATLA as a kid, so watching it again over quarantine was nostalgic and a great way to unwind.”
CHS student Aidan Hood said, “I really enjoyed this film because it unmasked the horrors of man. Unlike traditional horror movies, it was set in broad daylight, filled with vibrant colors instead of a gloomy setting. Midsommar helped to illustrate the enticing appeal and manipulation utilized by cults throughout history. The hidden details in the film helped to keep the movie exciting.”
CHS student Anisa Akhtarkhavari said, “The Truman Show is one of the most thought-provoking and unique movies with an ending that will blow you away. From the one and only Jim Carrey, the acting is incredible and raw and the film is shot beautifully. The storyline is a concept that is hard to imagine, having your whole life broadcasted live for the world to see and not even knowing it. Having your reality already created. It was wonderfully executed by the producers and writers and had great pacing throughout the film. It will leave you with a satisfying ending, if you haven’t watched it yet, get going, you’re missing out!”
CHS student Rosie Kuhle said, “Knives Out is fantastic because it’s not another predictable mystery movie. You literally have no idea who is responsible for Harlan’s death until the end.”
CHS student Lauren Cox said, “My favorite movie over quarantine is Fast Times at Ridgemont High. I love this movie because it is hilarious and allows me to get my mind off of how crazy the world is right now. I think others would enjoy this film because it is easy to relate to and is very funny.”
CHS student Lydia Lee said, “One of my favorite movies that I think everyone should watch at least once is Catch Me If You Can. The plot is incredible and the fact that it’s based on a true story makes it even better. This movie really resonated with me and I’ll never get tired of watching it!”
