In college, Brady Miletich played baseball for Concordia University, in Portland, Oregon. Before Miletich decided to become a teacher, he worked with the Seattle Mariners and the Portland Winterhawks. He worked in business and sales, which led him to work as a career and technical education teacher.
Some of Miletich’s favorite activities to do outside of school are hiking and camping. He enjoys the fresh air and everything the outdoors have to offer.
When the recent pandemic started, his favorite activity became hanging out with his family, including his two young children.
Camas High School Associate Principal Tim Fox hired Miletich and said that he stood out from the rest of the candidates.
“A lot of candidates will say they care about kids, but with Mr. Miletich, I could sense that he was being genuine,” Fox said.
“I was looking for someone who prioritized connections with students, especially in this unique time in history that we are currently in. As part of the process, candidates had to teach a lesson to me and the other interviewers. Mr. Miletich’s lesson was outstanding and gave me the confidence that he could deliver for his students every period, every day,” Fox added.
A big part of why he was hired was because of his real world experience from working with the sports teams.
Miletich said, “I wanted to do that (teach) because I wanted to do something more impactful with my life and my career… I wanted to do something where I could connect with kids, share my experience, and be part of a community.”
Miletich is from Clark County and wanted to stay close to home. He decided to apply to CHS because he thought it would be a great opportunity. He teaches economics and said he enjoys the friendly atmosphere CHS brings. He also likes how all his co-teachers are very helpful and that his students are always trying their best.
Miletich believes that remote learning is not ideal for school; however, he is trying to make the best out of this situation. Something he has done to help his students adjust to remote learning is creating a spreadsheet that they can post questions on for everyone in the class to see. For example, Militech created a spreadsheet to list questions that students can see and edit, giving them a more efficient way to understand the topics they learn.
CHS senior Josef Kiesenhofer said, “Mr. Miletich has integrated himself into the CHS community seamlessly. His economics classes are both productive and providing students with pertinent knowledge about the world. He’s also been a wonderful addition to the DECA team!”
